Meatball Sandwich

This recipe is easy to prepare and makes a hit with all kinds of kids. Kids can even make it themselves! This is close to a meatloaf, except that the tomato sauce is on the outside rather than mixed in.

You will need:

1 pound ground chuck or ground beef
1 jar Pasta Sauce
½ cup fine Bread Crumbs
½ cup Milk
½ Onion, diced finely
2 cloves Garlic, minced
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
½ teaspoon Salt
Black Pepper to taste
6-10 Dinner Rolls or Subway Sandwich Rolls

Preparation

Using medium heat, saute onions in olive oil in a large skillet for one minute. Add garlic and cook one more minute. Let them cool for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, combine the meat, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, and milk in a bowl. Add the onions and garlic. Knead them together until all are combined.

Shape into bite-size balls. If this recipe is for kids, remember that kids’ bites are slightly smaller than adult bites.

Pour the pasta sauce over the meatballs. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Slice the dinner rolls in half and fill with the meatballs and sauce.
Serves six.

It doesn’t teach you anything about food, your given a nubemr of points that you can eat in a day. The problem I have with that is jello has 3 points , as if jello is a good food choice.I’d rather you be able to go anywhere and look at a plate of food or what’s on the menu and be able to make good choices.

I don’t have this expertise for evaluating restaurant nutritional content (think you might need a lab!), but weight watchers has a book on making selections in restaurants. Look for it on Amazon or wherever.
